Brand Name VS Store Brand
So we all like to save a buck or two. The question is what's worth saving and what's not? I will not lie I am a complete brand name snob. I would always go for the brand names and never try any generic store bought products. However, this was when I was much younger and could live rather carelessly with my money. Now in present day, it's all about saving. So here is a list of diapers I've tried and my thoughts on each:
Brand Names
Huggies:
Snug & Dry Diapers- These are the cheapest priced out of all the Huggies Diapers, they definitely do the job. I've encountered some minor leaking with newborns. I would suggest these for 4+ months and would not recommend them if your baby is squirmer like mine. The materials used for this diaper are not as soft and flexible as others but, like I said they get the job done!
Little Snugglers- These were my best friends from the moment we left the hospital. I never experienced any leaking with these. They truly are "leak locked". They are soft on the skin for your infant and will not weigh the baby down. Also, this is one of the only diapers I came across that has the preemie size. I would highly recommend these. The price is good for the number of diapers you get in each pack. Two Thumbs up for Little Snugglers!
Little Movers- These diapers rock! Like I said previously, I have a squirmer of a child and when she wears these, they never come undone or move half way across her bottom. They stay put! I've yet to experience any leaking. They are strong and durable, yet softer then the Snug & Dry. These are absolutely perfect when they start rolling and crawling everywhere (as indicated by the name). They cost slightly more then the Snug & Dry and you get a little less for your buck but, they are worth it!
Pure & Natural-The first few weeks of my daughters life, I was in LOVE with these. I've yet to find another diaper that is as soft and comfortable as these. They are great the first few weeks when not a whole lot is coming out and nothing is heavy yet. After that, I would suggest moving on to the Snug & Dry or the Little Movers. And not to mention Momma can feel good about using them as well because they are organic and have aloe and vitamin E-for that extra comfort on the bottom.
Little Movers Slip-On Diapers- This product is in the testing phase and I will update the site once I make my final decision!
Overnites-This product is in the testing phase and I will update the site once I make my final decision!
The great thing about Huggies is with each product you purchase comes code for their rewards program-Enjoy The Ride. You can obtain points to cash in on prizes, games, coupons, etc... I love this site and if you are a "Huggies Mommy", I suggest you sign up. It's free! Enjoy! http://www.Huggies.com/en-US/rewards
Pampers
Swaddlers- These are the diapers the hospital gave me so I was thinking these were going to be fantastic and for the most part they were. After speaking with a few Mom's we all agreed that we feel Pamper's in general are better for boys. I don't know what it is, Huggies just work better for us females, maybe it's the way it flows. I have Mommy friends who absolutely swear by the Swaddler's (they have boys!). I was pretty happy with this product, experienced some minor leaking through the diaper, maybe because I have a girl? Swaddler's are better for infants, after a few weeks I suggest moving on to a different kind because it will not hold any heaviness.
Cruisers- Great diaper! Similar to how I feel about the Huggies Little Movers. Perfect for the baby on the go! Keeps all the goods locked in, I did not experience leaking, not as soft as the Swaddler's but, it gets the job done and keeps everything inside. A little more expensive then the Swaddler's but, totally worth it.
Baby Dry-Oh,man... I hate to give a thumbs down but, here it is... Not a fan. With a name like Baby Dry, you would think your baby would indeed stay dry. I used a few of these and literally each time I used them, I had some sort of issue. Leakage occurred for both number one and two. Unpleasant sight! The diaper itself easily gets weighed down, so all of a sudden baby has droopy drawers. I've discussed this specific diaper with other mommies and it is a all around agreement that Pamper's Baby Dry is not the way to go, regardless of gender.
Prints- Okay, when I saw these I was in heaven! I love the designs, patterns, color. They were more money for what you usually get but, I couldn't help myself. After all it's summer and I have my daughter in just a diaper quite often-so at least she could still be making a fashion statement. Pamper's gets a thumbs up for the creativity of this diaper but, they get a sideways thumbs for the mechanics of the diaper. Cruiser's are much more absorbent and softer to the touch, these did not do a great job absorbing and I also felt the size was a little more snug then usual (causing irritation to my munchin's skin). These are decent for a special occasion but, should not be used for everyday diaper life.
Pamper's also offers a rewards site; Gifts To Grow- where you enter the code you receive on the product. It gives you the opportunity to enter sweepstakes to win prizes and much more! Check it out! http://en.giftstogrow.pampers.com/index.html
Luvs
Is it silly to say; I Love Luvs! Obviously this diaper does not get as much spotlight as Huggies and Pampers but, it should. Yes, this diaper is cheaper. Yes, there is only one kind to choose from. But, I am telling you these diaper aren't bad. At first I was skeptical because, the truth is you do not hear a whole lot about them. After I tried it the first time I was surprised with the results; no leaking at all and the diaper did not move all over the place during the course of time that it was worn. One down side to this diaper is; they are not super soft. They are made with a more plastic feel to them on the outside, which tends to leave marks on my squirmy daughter. I am very satisfied with Luvs regardless and if you are on a tight budget these are a great way to go! And though they do not have a rewards program, if you go visit their site, they offer special promotions and coupons. Oh and if you try them and decide they are not for you-they guarantee your money back! http://www.luvsdiapers.com/home
Fisher Price
Happy Days Diaper- I wish it was a happy day when I tried these! I did not have good experience with these at all and ended up not using the rest of the diaper pack up. It's funny, before I found them I wondered why a big name like Fisher Price did not advertise these and sell them all over the place. After I tried them I understood, they stunk! They leak, they let the smell come right up from under your baby's bottom, they moved basically off their bottom as they move around. I give them a thumb's up for the price but, it goes hand and hand with, "you get what you pay for". Now they also have Happy Nights, I personally did not try these but, I'm hoping they are more durable then Happy Days.
If you try it and decide you do like them, they also have a rewards program-Happy Rewards Program. For every 100 points or so obtain you get "Happy Certificates" to use towards other Fisher Price products.

Store Brand
Target's Up & Up- I was basically talked to buying a package of these. I told you before I am a brand name snob. My sister had used these a few years back for my nephew. Now, she was a Huggies Mommy but, would occasionally use these as he got older She told me they were awesome. After opening the package and pulling one out, I immediately knew how I would feel about these. It wasn't a good feeling-just by holding one, you can tell how cheaply made they were. They are super thin! There is not enough there to absorb anything. They do not have that leak guard style around the thigh area like other brands have, which can potentially cause a huge problem. The material is soft which is always a plus side for me. The design is boyish-blue and green polk-a-dots. They could have a pack for girls but, I did not see any gender specific packs at my store. So, I tried them, after all I did just buy them. My suspicions were correct, they did not get the job done. This is when my daughter was younger and her diapers were slightly lighter. I can't imagine trying them now! Maybe they are good for potty training if you do not want to really buy diapers but, in the end, I would not recommend these diapers.
Rite Aid's Tugaboos- Came across these by accident one day. I was not looking to buy any diapers but, saw that they had a small trial pack for 99 cents. So I said, Hey! Why Not! To my surprise they are a GREAT diaper/GREAT deal. They honestly remind me of Huggies-maybe not as thick with the material used but, style is similar. If you are looking for a great non-leaking diaper and want to save some extra bucks, these are really the way to go! And on the plus side; if you have a Rite Aid Wellness Card, you save 10 percent with every purchase on Rite Aid brands-including diapers! After spending so much, you gets reward amounts back to use towards future purchases! It's a win-win situation! I would strongly recommend these. Please keep in mind these run slightly bigger in size then other brands.
Babies R Us- I got 2 mega packs of these recently, they had sent out a coupon and since I never tried them I decided to give them a shot. They are VERY thin diapers, they are soft at first but, after a little while of wearing them I notice they begin to feel rough on the baby's skin (she developed a few red marks around her waist and thighs). They have repeatedly slid off of Maddy's waist. The other night, I was changing her diaper and when I went to pull the tab; it ripped right off the diaper. I felt like "Mommy Hulk". I feel the same about these diapers, as I did about their wet wipes...they are a no go!
